hip deep in pie

Sophia, that is maddening. UPS is the worst.

I have a friend that is so frustrated with UPS that she refuses to do business with anyone who ships with them. She instead emails them and tells them that they have lost a customer since they use UPS.

Ok- I am thinking of calling the store back, now that I am not enraged, and browbeating them for my discount back. I cancelled the whole order because I was so mad!

What is even happening?

Sheesh, Sophia. That's ridiculous.

And also apparently unaware of what socialism is. My boss seriously asked me why I continued working if I was a liberal-- didn't I think the state should take care of me!

So is this. A couple of weeks ago I got into a political...discussion with a guy I've known since we were about 3 years old. He's very conservative, which -- whatever -- I'm fine with philosophical differences, but he's prone to parrot every single twisted political meme without giving it any thought. He's also one of those "You liberals expect everyone to take care of you" people. I didn't realize until afterwards that what I wanted to say to him was, "No. I think we have a responsibility to help those in need." I was just too offended to think of it at the time.

Of course, I am also enraged at myself for getting so enraged at UPS. It is a really small problem in the scheme of things, and I really dislike that about myself. All in all it is a series of unfortunate events that led to me not getting what I want. Boo Hoo!

You liberals expect everyone to take care of you" people.

I think the reason this is so enraging is that it feels antithetical to everything I stand for. I don't want to TAKE, I think we should GIVE. And I don't believe that people will give unless forced to, hence I think the government should intercede.

Get grr at UPS!

Remember that final project I was going to have all done by the weekend before it was due? Well, it's due tonight at 6:00, and I'm only about half-way through it after pulling an all-nighter (but I blew off working on it until 3:00 am), and even though I've taken today off of work to finish it, I have to go to the doctor's now and won't be able to get to campus to finish it until hopefully noon. Gahhhhhh!! And it's all my own lazy-ass procrastinate-y fault.

Off to Skokie, damnit. If it weren't for the fact that the next available appointment with this guy isn't until late October or November, I'd skip it, but I can't. Bleah.

Bostonistas- Do you know anything about this teen program? [link]

They have a branch in Rochester to, and I am looking into making a donation (on of my former professors is on the board), but I wanted to see if there was any info.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't know them, but they look good?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The problem with getting grr at UPS is trying to get a human being on the phone who can do anything more than tell you where your package might be. (I used to be the person who told you where your package might be. That job SUCKED.) Now that you can track packages online, the CSR humans can't tell you anything more than you can find out on your own, and they can't do a damn thing to help either. Calling the local UPS center doesn't help if the package is still on the delivery truck, and if it's not on the truck it's probably on its way back to the origin. In short, UPS is kinda broken, and they don't care much because they're rich.
