You know, I've saved lives. Dozens. Maybe hundreds. I reattached a girl's leg. Her whole leg. She named her hamster after me. I got a hamster. He drops a box of money, he gets a town.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Huh. Just did the math, and in the past 3 days, I swam almost 6 miles. Almost 5.5 in 2 straight sessions, half mile in cooldowns.

I just went "swimming" today, but in my case that means playing in a pool with the kids, and maybe swimming across it a couple times or doing some pool exercises. I am in awe of your swimming mojo, sara.

I may be a little crazy, but I really benefit mentally from that time doing laps where I just tune out. I might think a little bit, but I'm pretty much focussed on keeping count and improving my strokes and kicks.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I did finally get off my ass and did the minimal bit of research necessary to have the papers I need to register and title the swag wag tomorrow. I hope. You know how those things go. I will try to be there at the crack of eight when it opens. We shall see how much of my day it swallows.

It is nice and cool this evening too, and did not actually rain any more today, the first time since I've been home. It's still pretty floody out, though, because it's all runoff. If it doesn't rain tonight, we'll be able to get out to do business tomorrow.

But yes, windows open in the evening and all night, will close first thing in the morning in accordance with desert passive cooling principles. So nice to have that sweet desert breeze drifting through the windows.

I miss that so much about the desert. But I get to pretend here in the spring and fall, when that works pretty well most days. Summer, though, all bets are off. This July was brutal. I got off easy last year. OTOH, since switching to a different electric supplier, my bill last month still only $114. Last year was about the same, but I used 1.5 times more energy this month.

eta: Huh. Looking at my billing history...my expensive time isn't summer, it's gas in winter. For the Feb cold snap/blizzards, it was almost $300.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Ow. Ow ow ow. So when I went dancing on Friday, I foolishly wore boots with traction-type soles. I caught one of my heels in the lowest ring of my hoop skirt, and suddenly sat down on the dance floor. My back is now letting me know that oh yes, something is out of whack.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

OK, I finally saw The Dark Knight today.

The ending was noble and whatever, but why the hell did they have to pin the murders on Batman? The Joker and three countries worth of crime syndicates were killing people all over the place.
