Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Barb, you had rosemary and oregano *waiting* for you in your yard? I am SO envious! I've been a little cranky because I've had to let the outside go in favor of helping get the inside remodeling done.

We have to remove a row of arbor vitae, open the lattice behind it, and build steps to create access to the front entry, and then completely clear the front planting bed. There are large mature shrubs in that bed, and I want them gone so I can plant my herbs.

I need to dig the ground cedar out of the side bed. I'm told there's an entire fallen tree under that bed, which is largely why I decided to make it a zen garden with smooth white river rock, a curving dry "river" of dark sharp gravel, and a cairn, a temple lantern, birdbath, statue, or something as a focal point, instead of trying to grow herbs in a place that only gets four hours of sun in high summer.

I wish our former owner had grown his own herbs. He built clocks, instead. He didn't leave any of those behind, though.

Thanks for the info, Amy. I have an 8am sales call and it's good to know I shouldn't get sucked in tonight.

I hate that with Mister Kitty, we're at the stage of girding for the end. Unavoidable, and in a lot of ways, I am prepared. Still gonna bawl, I am little in denial now. May not have mentioned it here a lot, but he is slowing down, sleeping a lot, not grooming. He's OLD. But yeah. It sucks. It'll come. I'll cope.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

We are sort of in the same place with Andy Cat, except he isn't that old and he hasn't been ours long enough. There could be a turn around but I don't really think so.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Kittenish is old and has had five bonus years so far through a fantastic vet and medication. I know we're much closer to the end than the beginning. Hard.
