Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ugh. Called in working from home. I'll try going in in the afternoon, but I'm not feeling optimistic. Man, I was just in the ER Monday morning. I need the new plan to take effect sooner than March, which is when I have my appointment with the pain specialist. My eyes are crossing.

I am desperately curious about what's involved in sex addiction therapy.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I am desperately curious about what's involved in sex addiction therapy.

They sit around not having sex?

Shit's all sorts of different now.

It's amusing to me (not haha amusing but odd amusing) how there is something wrong with me that even though I understand how destructive and serious addiction and recovery need to be taken, yet I totally pooh-pooh sex addiction as just one's inability to keep their pants on. It's so not right, it's just as destructive to lives and drugs or alcohol, but I have this odd "SNL-type" rehab in my head where everyone Tiger Woods encounters in rehab is a big chested blonde and when he goes a day without hitting on one, he is cured and can go home.

It is so very wrong of me and I feel like an asshole for thinking it, but I wonder if I'm not too far off base as far as what the typical impression of sex addiction at large.

Does any of that make sense or am I just justfying my large with the asshole attitude?

Trust my rage

Aimee, my attitude is very similar to yours. Maybe I don't understand the difference between therapy and rehab (rehab=more intense therapy) but I feel like the word rehab makes it seem more like drugs or alcohol and I don't see it that way. But I may well also be an asshole.

Our wings are not tired.

Nope, I'm pretty sure it's Tiger who is the asshole.

information libertarian

My impression was that rehab is for things that have actual physical withdrawal consequences (like drugs and alcohol). I mean, residential therapy could be great for any number of things, but there seems to be a difference between being addicted to cocaine and being addicted to sex, physiologically speaking, even if some of the mental addiction issues were the same.

If there are "sex withdrawal symptoms" I don;t want to know about them.

I think it's reasonable to be skeptical in the case of celebrity sleeping around.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I think I equate sex addiction to gambling addiction. there are no physical symptoms, but it can be damaging. The thing is that with gambling, there are other implications (like losing all of your money), whereas a sex addiction doesn't seem to be harmful if you're not in a relationship.

eta: that's not quite right. it's still harmful because it's an addiction, which means that you don't have control over it. Hmm, let me think on that a little more.
