As a semi-introvert, I was happy to discover Sophia Dembling's Introvert's Corner blog.

A woman who read one of my essays on introversion said that when she explained her introversion to her family, her brother said, "We didn't know you were an introvert. We thought you were just a bitch."

Jealous! MFNlaw is a blast! I'm sure Sparky is as well, but I've never met her.

I'm a weird combo of introvert and extrovert. I love talking to people, love dealing with them at the bookstore, love participating in class discussions, but OTOH, I take great enjoyment in just hanging out at home or with a few friends when it comes to purely social events. If I have to go to a club to meet people, I'll be found sitting in the corner and watching until someone drags me onto the dance floor.

Can you still count as an extrovert if it's only on your terms? I want to start all the conversations, and sometimes I don't want to start conversations. And sometimes, I get busted for chatting too much, like, say today. But I was only busted by New Guy, and I chalk it up to maintaining good relations with the business users.

Sometimes it feeds me, sometimes it kills me.

I think there's a difference between the introvert/extrovert spectrum, and the outgoing/shy spectrum. You can be outgoing and introverted, which means you're very talkative but you don't reveal much (if any) real personal info.

Me, I can be outgoing at times, but I remain very introverted.

Another thing I've read is that extroverts gain energy in social situations and introverts lose energy. It's almost like work for an introvert to be social. Many introverts can be social for a while, but then need to leave and recharge. That's me too.

hello from vacation with the family.

I have visited 4 schools and 8 houses. I really like 2 houses, but they are very different, go to different schools and both have pros and cons. I need to hash it out and make an offer on one of them. WAH!
