Shit's all sorts of different now.

Sophia - Rick Ocasek in the original movie "Hairspray".

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse, how much can I pay you to drop off your leftovers at Steve's? The guy is literally living on bags of pretzels.

Heh. Should ask him if he wants a week when I'm out of town?

Jesse, I think it's one tablespoon butter to one tablespoon flour to one cup of milk.

Right on, thanks! I love how I think I can just eyeball anything.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Jesse, I'll be sharing a CSA with Amyth this year. If your share is way too much, you might want to see if there's someone nearby who's willing to split it.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Sophia, Hec will be by to answer your question soon. His ears are probably ringing right now.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Sophia - Rick Ocasek in the original movie "Hairspray".

MST3K has done a ton of beatnik movies.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, Calli, the way they describe it, it sounds OK, and I always go to my parents' on Sundays, so I figure I can bring them extras/stuff I don't like. We'll see!

Perkins, I know the reason I am so sleepy is because my cat has been sleeping on/next to me ALL DAY. He usually spends a while in the bedroom.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Sophia, it looks like Googling "beat movement" or "beat generation" might get you better results.

And Wikipedia has a pretty decent list of Beat generation writers; if you do a Google image search by specific names you'll probably come up with something usable.

And, megan, can you stand to add one more name to the recipe recipient list?

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

My cat got her teeth cleaned today. She'll be sleeping tonight after I get her back from the vet on my way home, after she eats dinner, that is. She was pissed that I took away her food last night, and I had to close her out of the bedroom, otherwise she would have kept me awake all night long with her bitching about it right in my ear.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Can anyone think a movie where someone was a beatnik, or an actual beatnik?

Responding to my ringing ears...There are a bunch of beatnik exploitation movies. (And here we'll distinguish between actual Beats and the caricature of them which is the beatnik.)

View the Beatsville gallery for illustrations.

Movies: The Beat Generation; High School Confidential (two beatniks, one being a gal Phillipa Fallon, the other being Drew Barrymore's dad); the Corman b-movie Bucket of Blood; The Bloody Brood (with Peter Falk!);

Here's a list of Beatnik movies.
