My dad was in the hospital in south Georgia and was visited by one of the ministers who served as rotating volunteer chaplains. He looked at the long Czech name and said, "You're not from around here, are you?
My dad replied, "No. We moved here from Florida."
The minister says, "But where was you born?"
"Canada."
"I knew that was some kind of foreign name!"
Skipping to say thanks for the hippo birdies, everyone!
Happy birthday sorella!
Nearly belated happy birthdays to Maria and Pix, with lots of cake and love!

Oh it's a WalMart commerical -- but it featured girls playing hockey!
Commercial for British Columbia: "Some people call it British Columbia, Canada. We call it home."
Huh?
We call it home to SyFy and CW genre productions. Long live Vancouver! I wonder what Colin is doing now?
Huh?

I'm guessing if she had been wildly unstable, it wouldn't have gotten to that meeting, but I don't know how academia works -- if you're on the tenure track, do you automatically stay there?
Pretty much. Except many places now have a (usually 3rd/4th year) review to make sure you are on track to get tenure, basically to avoid the stress of "you've worked here 7 years, but now you're fired" that is getting denied tenure.
