It's Friday! How many people have a three day weekend this week?
I do! And we are spending it in our favorite little getaway out near Palm Springs. It's the first birthday/Valentines long weekend I've ever had (usually Presidents' Day falls the weekend after). Very happy-making.
President's day. Which I don't get off.
Today is a quiet day. 2/3 of the 8th grade and 1/3 of the 7th grade are on field trips. My classes are reduced to 3-8 people per class. So, we're watching The Muppet Show in my drama classes.
I've got a three-day weekend, too! Last year, it was up to us to decide who was going to cover and who was going to be off, so I worked on Monday and took a day off later in the week. This year, Boss asked us who was willing to cover, and I said I wanted the day off instead. I was going to see if I could also take a half-day today, but I think I'll stick around until 6:00 and get some stuff done.
And in completely other stuff, does anyone know if tobogganing hills are still around? I remember as a kid we'd drive up to the big hill about 30 miles north of Joliet and rent a sled and head down the grooves under the big lights they had on the hillside. That place closed down back in the late '80s, IIRC, and I haven't seen another one since.
People seriously get that off? Huh.
Yup. I've gotten President's Day off everywhere I've worked in Cali.
The federal gov't gets President's Day, but I don't. Boo!
I don't have it off, but mr. flea and the kids do.
I am home with kids. The Valentine's goody bags rival Halloween. I think I am going to have to do some parental candy claiming to keep the sugar high to a minimum.
Not snowing yet.
We get Presidents' Day off, which really surprised me, since this is the first firm where that was true.
I have a truly enormous amount of unwatched TV on my Tivo, plus 8 eps of S2 Criminal Minds from Netflix, and a lot of stuff I want to rewatch. This does not bode well for my getting stuff done this weekend.
