Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

What medium do you think? Live-action movie? Animated? Graphic novel?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I found out at 6:45 am that I'd have to leave work at 12 to get Casper because the schools are closing early because it might maybe snow a little,

Georgia school administrators have been twitchy about snow since Snowjam in '82. Little-to-no snow was predicted, and then in mid afternoon we got about six inches in an hour or so and the city became one giant traffic accident. There were children stuck on cold buses for up to six hours. (I was working at Emory at the time, and while I have a basic grasp of driving in snow, that doesn't help if no one else does. Once I realized there was at least one wreck at every exit to the campus, I managed to find a parking space and spent the night in my office.)

Eh, I'm not criticizing the state for canceling. I think it will snow a little, and any snow at all = insanity on the roads. The kids will be happy. It's just a scramble to cover stuff at work and a logistical hassle.

Is anybody excited about the Olympics? I am planning to force my family to watch the opening ceremonies, so I hope they are good. (Not that anything could ever top Beijing.)

Thrive to spite them

I'm excited about the Olympics, I need to clear off my DVR and find a schedule for when things are going to be on so I can start recording and watching stuff. I can't say I have a favorite sport because I like to watch most of them.

Oh btw, there's an article on Yahoo about ice dancer siblings that were born in the US and now skate for other countries, their mother is Japanese and two have dual citizenship and skate for Japan and the other became a citizen of Georgia to skate with her partner who is Georgian. Do not read the comments whatever you do, it's full of people saying that the 2 skaters should have their US citizenship revoked and be kicked out of the country for representing a team other than the US.

The drive in wasn't fun. DC streets are not in good shape. Metro stations are pretty awful, too, with ice and packed trains. Now a train has derailed on my line.

I hate the thought of trying to get home.

And my DH's flight is delayed an hour.
