Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

And the sequel to Poltergeist just writes itself....

Eh, I'm not criticizing the state for canceling. I think it will snow a little, and any snow at all = insanity on the roads. The kids will be happy. It's just a scramble to cover stuff at work and a logistical hassle.

Is anybody excited about the Olympics? I am planning to force my family to watch the opening ceremonies, so I hope they are good. (Not that anything could ever top Beijing.)

Thrive to spite them

I'm excited about the Olympics, I need to clear off my DVR and find a schedule for when things are going to be on so I can start recording and watching stuff. I can't say I have a favorite sport because I like to watch most of them.

Oh btw, there's an article on Yahoo about ice dancer siblings that were born in the US and now skate for other countries, their mother is Japanese and two have dual citizenship and skate for Japan and the other became a citizen of Georgia to skate with her partner who is Georgian. Do not read the comments whatever you do, it's full of people saying that the 2 skaters should have their US citizenship revoked and be kicked out of the country for representing a team other than the US.

The drive in wasn't fun. DC streets are not in good shape. Metro stations are pretty awful, too, with ice and packed trains. Now a train has derailed on my line.

I hate the thought of trying to get home.

And my DH's flight is delayed an hour.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Glad you got in safe, Sparky, and I'm sending safe landing~ma in the direction of DH's plane.

eta or wait, did I misread? Are you still commuting?

I'm excited about the Olympics! It's in my city! Olympic day is finally here!

I have to say, watching the torch relay in my old neighbourhood this morning made me cry!

I am so curious what Vancouver is going to look like to other countries. This is certainly not going to be the snowiest olympics ever, but I think the mountains are okay.

The status is NOT quo.

x-posted with Bitches:

Thanks! I am having the BEST birthday morning. I woke up to an amazingly sweet card from my DH, I've gotten tons of sweet messages here and on Facebook, and I got to school and found my classroom door decorated by students (they decorate each other's lockers for birthdays traditionally), a cake on my desk with "Happy Burthday, Ms. T.!", an awesome card from my friend/colleague, and then my department chair came by with a birthday BALLOON!

I am so lucky to have such amazing people in my life.

Happy Birthday, Maria, sorella!

Thanks, smonster. My day really isn't going as badly as that last post makes it sound. Sour grapes from knowing the person who decides we should be out in this mess lives on campus and has someone else shoveling him out as a benefit.

I hope the cafe has real food for lunch.

And the sequel to Poltergeist just writes itself....

Not to mention a revival of the Airport franchise.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

there's an article on Yahoo about ice dancer siblings that were born in the US and now skate for other countries

They live in the US and represent other countries? Where do they train? I do think that's a bit weird. But a fair number of Jamaican athletes train abroad, because resources are better that way. I don't know what would apply in those cases.

I don't care one whit about the Winter Olympics. It's just a blot on my normal TV viewing. Don't like cold weather sports. They all have to do with cold weather.
