Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, who wants to bake this for me? [link] Bocconcini-stuffed Mediterranean bacon pull-aparts. I mean, seriously.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

After all the hype and school/work cancellations we got a grand total of a light dusting in my part of MA.

I wish the minimal snow had started sooner, I might have gotten a snow day out of it.

ION, I'm getting emails in a chain (five so far), where it starts out with "We have a theory" in the subject line. I keep wanting to reply and say, shouldn't that be "I have a theory"? Also? Earwormed now.

If I made that, I'd skip the olives. But, otherwise, it sounds like a foodgasm.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And the beauty of the concept is, you could totally take things out or add other things, and it would still be ridiculously delicious! Mmmm.

OK, so now I'm watching the Daily Show, and he's talking about those missionaries who got in trouble for trying to take kids out of Haiti. A couple of things: First, I cringe every time I hear them described as "American Baptists," because they are Baptists from the US, not members of the American Baptist Convention. So that makes me cringe. And then, what they're doing makes me cringe, of course, EXCEPT that when my cousin's fiance was down there (sleeping in a car for a week), friends and relatives kept asking him to take their kids with him when he left. But of course, they were not trying to put their kids up for adoption, they were trying to make sure their kids had a place to sleep and food to eat. But it does make me slightly more sympathetic to the -- don't get me wrong, completely misguided, ignorant, and wrong -- missionaries.

Anyway. That's on my mind.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

In case you know anyone who thinks the world will end in 2012, here is a good refutation of the "evidence" for this: [link]

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I finally got around to trying the Peanut Satay insta-noodles from Trader Joe's and they do not suck, as most insta-food does.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Last minute doctor's appointment! Leaving steering committee meeting dial-in now.

Whew.
