Art Crawl!!!

We got hardly any snow - okay - maybe 4 or 5 inches. I wonder when they cancelled our Winter Storm Warning? (It was windy - there were these little sculpted drifts everywhere.)

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I have pumpkin pancakes. These almost make up for the snow.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

All of the East Coast offices are officially closed today, which means that all of the work coming in from attorneys working at home is going to come to the California librarians.

There are fewer librarians in all of California than there are in any one of the three major East Coast libraries.

It's going to be a FUN day.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oy.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I want Hil's breakfast!

We've got a lot of snow here, and more coming down. Daycare and work were unexpectedly open, but since it's supposed to be blizzarding in a couple of hours I'm staying home anyway and dyeing my hair.

What kills me is that each one has prefaced the thought that maybe they shouldn't have to pay her with the assertion that their nanny is fabulous and that they'd hate to do anything ruin the relationship.

Ugh, we get that on the local parenting listserv's too. Fortunately there are always at least a few people willing to jump in and remind these people that the "relationship" they are so eager to preserve is a business relationship dependent on an exchange of money for services. However much she adores your kids, the nanny is not showing up every day out of the goodness of her heart!

Always Anti-fascist!

Pay up, stingy parent-bastards...if she's that great, she'll find someone who will. my neighbors are all insane. ok, there's one who isn't...she's very nice. Mostly, though the less we know the better I feel.

My county in MD has suspended plowing operations because it is too dangerous out on the roads.

Our wings are not tired.

Stay safe and warm wishes for the snow bound.

Pay up, stingy parent-bastards

Seriously! I was rolling my eyes at DH because he has taken to tipping more than usual. When I questioned his generosity he explained that we were eating out less often as is everyone else and the staff could use the extra to make up for the empty tables. This would be one of the reasons I've been married to him for 20 years.
