Snow wasn't too bad in my neighborhood, as most people have shoveled. (We got about ten inches total.) But in Evanston, I had to trudge through deep snow because sidewalks have been covered in drifted snow and dirty snow from the plows.

My NYC office is closed, which only matters to me because meetings are cancelled. I should really go to the laundromat this morning before it starts snowing, because I cannot accumulate enough quarters to do laundry in my building.

proof B'more residents are getting into ptsd territory: walking back from the pool, people had erected tarp tents attached to street/sign-poles over their cars. SRSLY.

Whoa. Freaky wind outside. No snow pictures from me today, because no way am I going out in that.

I can't tell from online weather forecasts if it is supposed to storm here in Rochester today or not. I am thinking no, or there would more panic.

Because the School of Nursing is technically part of the medical center, staff will always have to report to work-- there will be no closing. I am not sure what they would have us do in a true emergency.

The fellow that works for the POTUS hasn't been home in days - he's been ordered to stay downtown, as have our neighbor who is a landscape architect for the Capitol.

Okay, the first makes sense.

As for the nannies, it's almost like you're suggesting the servants are people!!!?

When I worked for a department store, we would only get paid during an emergency if we made it to the store, worked for at least 2 hours, and then they closed the store. I went to work (which was a 30 minute highway drive under good circumstances) in several snow emergencies just to get my full days pay.

I might have even suggested to these people that the nanny might have bills to pay. I may have reminded them that our county requires a written contract with the nanny, and that this is just the sort of thing it should cover.

What kills me is that each one has prefaced the thought that maybe they shouldn't have to pay her with the assertion that their nanny is fabulous and that they'd hate to do anything ruin the relationship.

Snoverkill continues here. I get the feeling I won't have work at all this week. I just hope our flight to Boston on Friday doesn't get cancelled.
