Dueling snow photos! [link]

Nasty out there. Think I'll go back to bed.

I got woken up by a little earthquake this morning!

Anyone else feel it?

(The center was in Sycamore - which is only about 10 miles away from me.)

This was my second quake: the first one was in Champagne in the 80s. Also tiny by the standards of people who live where quakes are the norm. (This morning's was 4.something on the Richter scale.)

like Tom said, not much overnight, but coming down now. They say blizzard conditions until 6pm. I had planned to go in to work, but not so sure now. I do have a 4:15 dr appt I need to keep, so I will be going out at some point. grump.

better shower and just get moving. a day stuck in the house with mac will drive me crazier than normal.

Still hasn't started up here in Boston. I don't think my part of the state is going to get much, but south of the city is supposed to get hammered. And not in the fun way.

We're apparently missing this snowstorm too.

We were up at 5ish for pet stuff and were like "maybe it won't be so bad?" There were only a couple of (crunchy) inches at that point. Not so much. Oh well. I have some crazy deadlines today that, while I can work at home, I'm pretty sure there's no way I can make. I wish I could just have a relaxing snow day at home.

I'm just giving up. 2 people in my group are telecommuting. I don't see the point. I'll be going out to shovel from time to time, once I develop the motivation. For now? My bed has 2 cats in it and I'm about to add a third and a human.

People on the parents' listserv are wondering if they have to pay their nanny this week. I keep sending them messages asking if they're still pulling a salary in spite of the snow days and reminding them that their nanny has bills to pay and changing the agreement unilaterally, without warning, is a nasty thing to do.

We have big blowing flakes and sometimes I can't see the house across the street. The fellow that works for the POTUS hasn't been home in days - he's been ordered to stay downtown, as have our neighbor who is a landscape architect for the Capitol.

Snow wasn't too bad in my neighborhood, as most people have shoveled. (We got about ten inches total.) But in Evanston, I had to trudge through deep snow because sidewalks have been covered in drifted snow and dirty snow from the plows.

My NYC office is closed, which only matters to me because meetings are cancelled. I should really go to the laundromat this morning before it starts snowing, because I cannot accumulate enough quarters to do laundry in my building.

proof B'more residents are getting into ptsd territory: walking back from the pool, people had erected tarp tents attached to street/sign-poles over their cars. SRSLY.
