Hm, looks like my bill used to be around $30ish a month, but it's jumped to $50 recently. Huh. I think that's just the winter increase, though, from using the heater. Last year around this time I had a $70 bill.

We recently replaced the windows with much better ones so I'll be curious to see how summer goes. We've gotten up to $300 during a hot summer month. For quite awhile my wife kept wanting to add insulation, and I had to keep pointing out that there's nothing to add insulation too. We'd have to rebuild the house with 2x6 exterior studs instead of 2x4.

Well, obviously any of our findings are anecdotal, but when the Enron bullshit was happening, with its completely unnecessary "brownouts", my PG&E bill went from around $100 (3 bed, 2 bath house where heat was sparingly used) to $350 in one month.

Bear in mind I live in Missouri where we can have 100+ degree days with murderous humidity and still have below zero stretches in the winter. This also explains why the roads suck.

I am not looking forward to the jump in utilities I will face with double the square footage and having to my own water and heat for the first time ever. eep.
