I shoveled out a well outside the door last night. It was full this morning. (Ditto the balcony door. I can't open it now.)

There's a foot of snow blown up against all my west windows.
We've got somewhere around 20 inches of snow, and the news this morning said there was a band of heavy snow still to come through this afternoon. I've shoveled the front steps to the gate, and the sidewalk, but the plow came through and obliterated the last. While I was out there two people in SUVs driving for the hospital around the corner asked for directions.
DH's turn!
There's at least 13" new inches. That's on top of 15" at 2 am.
Because of the fence we've got lots of drifting, so it's hard to measure unless I wade out to the middle of the backyard. Which I'm not going to do.
DH has just put on all of his snow gear and is trying to explain to the pup that they aren't going to the park.
My deck rail pile has merged with my neighbor's. They are 3 inches apart. It's craaaaxy.
Just keep reminding yourself that it melts. Eventually, it melts.
A Fox News crew in DC found former-Sen Tom Daschle pushing his car out of the snow.
I give Daschle a pass for being out in the snowmageddon -- he's from South Dakota, where if things stopped for a snowstorm, nothing would move before April most years.
That's a helluva lot of snow.
Thunder woke me up at 2:00 this morning. Very little sleep. I need to shower and get on my way. If any of you have warm thoughts to share, send them to my students who are competing today.
I graduated high school in 1981. I am not old. I am mature, like a fine wine. Or in my case, more like cheese.
Only weird thing is she cut a bunch of chunks out of the back of my hair to make it lighter.
My sister cut my hair last time - she did a good job, but she practically sheared it at the nape of my neck. She said it was to keep it from all sticking out, to make it lie closer to my neck. I don't want it to do that; it's really curly back there, I like the curls. It's been five weeks and it's still not much more than fuzz under the back locks. I don't like it. But hey - it was free.
I can't tell how deep the snow is. Everything is flat and white. The sky is the same color as the ground. It's gorgeous. I want it to go away now.
There are two postings this morning from a doula trying to get to the hospital to be with a client, looking for someone to drive her. While I sympathize with the person having the delivery, I think it's too much to ask to have someone drive in this when you're not the one having the emergency. (We have a 4 wheel drive, so when someone was asking in the subject line, I looked.)
