Nipple cover sales have increased by 20 percent, thanks to the underwear-as-outerwear fashion trend, the Daily Mail UK reports. As more designers have embraced lingerie and sheer fabrics, more women have purchased the see-through garments and have sought a way to make them appropriate to wear in public.
A buyer for Selfridges Department store in England said, "Our customers are spending upwards of 250 pounds on sheer bodies which they don't want to keep hidden under clothes. Today's 'if you've got it, flaunt it' generation is proving that there is nothing like a peek of expensive lingerie to make a woman feel special."
Nipple covers retail from $8 to $25 in the U.S. and come in a variety of colors and shapes.
