Yay Stephanie's new job!
msbelle, I'm so sorry. That blows.
Not finding much for grenadine, though. Just one bartender's blog recommending Torani pomegranate syrup as a good HFCS-free decent-tasting substitute.
And another blog commenter recommends just making your own. It sounds ridiculously simple: 1 part POM pomegranate juice, 1 part (or less, per your taste) superfine sugar, mix until sugar is melted (I guess you could use simple syrup instead), keeps basically forever in the fridge.
Grenadine is super-easy to make - but since you're making a syrup, you would use sugar instead of simple. Also, I prefer using Evolution Pomegranate Juice - it's more expensive than POM, but tastes sooooo much better. (Whole Foods has it.)
Recipe (from The Bartender's Little Black Book):
3 cups pomegranate juice
3 cups sugar
2 tbsp. orange flower water (optional)
Bring juice to a boil. Turn heat to low, simmer 7-10 minutes to reduce. Gradually stir in sugar (and OFW, if you want), and stir for 2 minutes to ensure dissolve. Cool to room temp and bottle.
A slightly more involved but SUPER-tasty recipe is at Jeffrey Morgenthaler's blog: [link]
And Jeff's tonic water recipe (almost as involved as his bitters recipe): [link]
There's at least the Jetta TDI, but I'm pretty sure there are Golf and Bug TDI models too.
Gud, are the TDI models turbos?
All the VW diesels are turbos.
Bookmarking everything, juliana. Thanks.
And, hi! Long time no post with!
All the VW diesels are turbos.
Cool. I hear they perform pretty well, in addition to amazing mileage.
Has Toyota fixed all the issues cropping up left and right?
Aren't they not really sure? I was giving them...not the benefit of the doubt exactly but I wasn't too concerned about the recall but, having heard the stories of what happened when their cars accelerated unexpectedly and (this is what I didn't realize) UNCONTROLLABLY, I'm pretty freaked out about it.
I'm sure to be in the market in the next couple of years (I thought this year but not with wedding and condo not being sold yet) and I'm wondering if there's a Mazda that would work for me. My '99 Protege has been pretty reliable I think.
And in like three hours, I will have a shrift.
Feel free to take pictures of her new haircut. When she's not looking and stuff.
Well we got home, but as soon as I told him the sitch 1) no more afterschool 2) he needs to give me the DS, at least right now HE FLIPPED! He's now slammed in his room (his doing) after I denied him 1) leaving 2) going into the kitchen that has wet paint AND a painter in it 3) watching tv.
It is not a good thing that a TON of breakables from the kitchen are sitting around the livingroom because of the painting. I should probably start putting some of them behind some closed doors.
I will not runaway. I will not runaway. I will not runaway.

I rented a Mazda 3 once - it was nice, for a small car.
