to ask me why a "shun" word was spelled with "tion."
That reminds me when I was in first grade - before our teacher explained the "th" sound, I was wondering about this word "the" - like why does this "tuh-heh" word keep showing up if I've never heard it?
it is hard to articulate a "t" sound between 2 vowels (see ita)
IS NOT! IS NOT! IS NOT!
I'm of the opinion that logicking out English pronunciation, any of it, gives the impression that it can all be logicked out. Which is bound to end in tears and rending.
In other news, does anyone have any silver tequila recommendations other than Patron?
Another first-grade memory - when our teacher explained how "comb" was spelled, I finally concluded that "spelling is stupid."
I think I can explain it that some sounds are made with more than one letter. He gets how "sh" makes the shhhh sound. I just wish I had a better grasp of how to explain this stuff.
And Liv just fell of a chair and said, "OH, BISCUITS!" which is the expletive Kick Buttowski uses. I think this is progress over "goddammit."
T-I-O-N!
Shun shun-shun shun!
T-I-O-N! Shun shun-shun shun!!
That is exactly what I was thinking!
Herradura makes a nice silver, and we like Cabo Wabo as well.
I also say "comb" with a b in my head.
If you really want to blow Owen's mind, point out to him that, according to various English spelling rules, "fish" can also be spelled "ghoti."
Do you have a brand recommendation?
I like Noilly-Prat, a French vermouth.
You'll need dry vermouth for martinis (with Gin!) and sweet vermouth (rosso, not blanco) for Manhattans.
I remember brain-farting in third grade and trying to spell "of" as "uv."
