Spike: You pissed in the Big Man's Chair? That's fantastic! Gunn: Spike, can you please turn off that warm fuzzy? Spike: What, the Lorne thing? Worn off. I just think that's bloody fabulous.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Many of us have mellowed in our old age.

I just figure that everyone understands I still believe the exact same stuff in that exact tone of voice. I'm just more tired now.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Can anyone tell me how to explain -tion words to Owen? He asked me how to spell "operation" last night and then proceeded to ask me why a "shun" word was spelled with "tion." I'm at a loss.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Also adorable now (didn't mean to imply otherwise).

Fuck yeah!

Because English has a puckish side?

Time to pull out my copy of Mother Tongue: English and how it got that way.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

"tion."

I am not sure if this is too esoteric for Owen, but I always explain them to myself by thinking of shun as tee-un fast. So in my head I say op-er-a -tee-un, but when I say it out loud, faster it comes out oper- a- shun. Also, it is hard to articulate a "t" sound between 2 vowels (see ita)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

to ask me why a "shun" word was spelled with "tion."

That reminds me when I was in first grade - before our teacher explained the "th" sound, I was wondering about this word "the" - like why does this "tuh-heh" word keep showing up if I've never heard it?
