Sinuses are the fucking devil. In other news, Spring is sproinging. I'd like to trade in my sinuses and also get different eyes, eyes that don't swell, itch and water.

Shock absorbers! I'm convinced sinuses are shock absorbers!

My cousin Scotty's anatomy professor goes with "to make the head lighter" but this seems bogus to me. Surely you can have honecombed bone without fluid that would serve that purpose?

Here is the scientific method with which I developed my theory: I got kicked in the face by a stage diver. Hard enough that one of the dudes in the band winced visibly (and its not like DJ had never seen this before). I put my hand over my face and felt the hot, sticky, surely blood everywhere and tried like hell not to faint. Once the lights came up a bit I took my hand away from my face and there was no red. My sinuses hurt for the rest of the night.

The next day I got kicked in the face by a stage diver again (interestingly enough, to me anyway, these are the only two times I have had foot/face contact). The same thing happend again. That night I developed a sinus infection which made me miserable for a couple of days. I think I pissed them off.

My conclusion: Shock Absorbers. Moody-ass shock absorbers.

Kittenish is old and has had five bonus years so far through a fantastic vet and medication. I know we're much closer to the end than the beginning. Hard.

I feel ya, buddy. Today I finally put the Pawz on Dallas and they work like a charm. She bitched while I put them on, but the second she stood up she gleefully started scampering around on the hardwood, traction restored. She has made no effort to remove them. I'm relieved to spare her pain, but I'm saddend at the thought that we've moved into borrowed time.

That sounds like a great product, Trudy! I'm wondering if my friend with the Chinese Crested knows about them... though she keeps up with new products pretty well.

Sunday I met a lovely mini-Dachs at Jon's birthday party. (OK, I met her Mom and Dad, too, and bonded with Mom over having long grey hair.) So very delicate and refined, perfectly in shape and so glad of the attention.

So far I'm very happy. They're only on her back paws. From now on I'm going to have the groomer cut them very short because there was some minor hair-tuggage as they went on and we might as well avoid that.

Her only reaction to them at all was our trip down the marble and then concrete stairs. By the time we came back up, however, she was fine with them.

She has this little bow she does... her downward dog I guess [link] When she did it this morning I realized she hadn't seen it in a while. THIS ROOLS.

I've heard it called a play bow. Those shoes must really make a difference for her!

Today I finally put the Pawz on Dallas and they work like a charm.

We need to get those for the dalmatian. But we might have to sedate her to get them on -- she cannot abide people touching her feet. Like, in a flail-kick-bite-do-anything-to-get-away kind of way.

Seattlistas, a question (for when you wake up): Do any of you know of or anything about meal assembly places there? I'm looking to buy a gift certificate, and it looks like Designed Dinners doesn't want to sell me one over the intertubes.

My dog hates people touching her paws, too. Guess what the baby loves to touch . . .

I managed to desensitize Muppet about touching her back feet -- she had a broken hip as a kitten, and was VERY defensive about them when I got her. Mostly it consisted of very patiently stroking and petting and moving slowly down the body towards the Forbidden Zone so her lizardy brain eventually got the message that associated hind touches with Good Relaxy Things.

rainy yucky morning.

the house painting continues. he did the touch-ups yesterday, but I still see messy work. He only painted half a day because he had a family emergency, so the bathroom and kitchen have still nto been touched. tonight I am going to move kitchen stuff out to the living room and hopefully get mac's room back in order. It makes me crazy, but I know I will be doing touch-up work all next week.

That green screen thing is fascinating.
