He then explained that a number of dogs, over a period of decades, had inexplicably lost their lives ‘jumping off’ Overtoun Bridge, near Dumbarton, in Scotland. Locals had believed in a range of conspiracy theories - dogs were mesmerised or attracted to the sound of water or some kind of ‘optical illusion’ - others believed that nearby electricity pylons produced something that confused the dogs. There was even the suggestion the bridge might be haunted as a local man, now sectioned under the Mental Health act, had thrown his baby off the bridge. However, I was looking for a more scientific explanation. The preliminary guesswork, based on my research as a human and animal behaviourist, eventually proved to be the most likely explanation.

I just called and rescheduled my surgery follow up appointment for tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be NASTY and the surgeon's office is a 45 minute drive for me. I'm hoping it doesn't get as bad as they're predicting but I decided not to chance it.
Ugh, when I left for work this morning it was chilly, raining, and my building was playing that plaintive wailing song from Once over the loudspeakers. No one told me that Belfast would be moving to my neighborhood.
Day 2 of my stay in the frozen tundra: Put on festive Christmas socks today in an attempt to inject some holiday cheer and warmth into my sad, cold life. Sadly, the little reindeer faces on my feet have not helped, as they stare up at me accusingly, saying in their little reindeer voices, "Why so cold? Why?"
