I love Groupons! They don't always have what I want, but we have gotten Groupons to Hugos (nom nom nom), for LA Kings tickets, to the Larchmont Larder.
I'm thinking about taking LA's side deal today which is money to the Soap Kitchen in Pasadena.Pooh. It changed from early early this AM.
On Monday she'd had a bad time of it during her doctor visit, getting held down for the nasal spray vaccination for seasonal flu and then a shot in the thigh for H1N1. She was really upset about being held down, particularly the nasal spray.
One thing Grace has really taught me is that holding a kid down, especially when you are going to do something that hurts or is uncomfortable is not always the right approach. I have learned that changing her trache ties or changing the trache itself or suctioning her or giving a shot are all best done with her sitting up of her own volition. I'm not saying it's the right choice for every kid, but it's certainly how we deal with her. She flips out most if you force her lie down against her will which makes diaper changes a big giant pain in the ass, no pun intended.
K's ex is dealing with Children's Hospital LA and K is trying to be supportive, but it is bringing on some PTSD and general rage and hate around that place. K's friend had to wait in the ER with an edemic almost 2-year-old for over 24 hours before they would give the kid a bed.
K saw one of Grace's old attendings and confronted her with something like, "You don't remember me or treating my child but you were her attending two years ago. Everytime I drive past this place I curse the attrocities you put her through and I hope you rot in hell because of it." Nice closure for K, but I doubt that the Doc thought anything other than, "that woman is crazy!"
