you'd still go? to sit alone and eat?
So I'd be seen to go. Someone might sit with me, or ask me to sit with them, but that wouldn't be the basic plan. The basic plan was to be seen there by management.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

oh, and this is not lunch, this is after work and offsite and it is not mandatory.
Barring just not doing anything, lunch would be my first choice also, preferrably a long lunch and brought onsite. Apparently doing anything where we get time off work is frowned upon. I try very hard to bite my tongue when these things are explained to me, since I know in the past flush years that they held the common "large firm party offsite where department managers got trashed and often needed legal help before the night was over". Hard to see how that is better than people getting an extra hour off work.
P-C, in January with new employees? Um, after they lay people off? Whaaaa?
OMG, it's a good thing they are still paying me for my old job, because I know they would still be asking these jackass questions that I can't believe no one else can figure out.

We acquired another company. Those new employees. The layoffs were part of the merger. They're going over there to, er, effect change right now.
Ok, at what point do I go from being a concerned parent to a helocopter parent? CJ is in 7th grade and I just fired off e-mails to two of his teachers. Am I turning into one of them?
Depends on what the emails were for.
I couldn't pay my parents to talk to my teachers. There's a middle ground there somewhere. You may be on it.
Apparently CA law mandates I take lunch. Which means the contracting company won't process my timesheets unless there's lunch on them. Even if I didn't take it. How annoying. Either I take lunch or I fudge the sheets.

Mmmmm.... fudge.

One was responding to an e-mail regarding a test CJ missed when he was sick last week. It is the class he had gotten a bad behavior report in for the 1st quarter, so I added a question about his behavior this quarter.
The second was to his math teacher. He got a bad grade on the first test this quarter which was weighted a 10, all the tests since then have been weighted at 1. I was asking how he can dig himself out of that hole and end up with the B+ he needs to stay in that class.
