his father is a famously gruff guy, and a big supporter of hockey being a macho sport. He's totally supporting his son, going so far as to say "I stand beside him with an axe!" -which is oddly heartwarming.

That really is oddly heartwarming. Good on Macho Dad!

Double Shit -- after digging in the garbage, it was an injected turkey... which means I just went and paid 8 times as much for another turkey that is fresh not frozen and I won't be bringing. ARGH. That's the definition of an idiot tax.

Happy Birthday Daisy. Thanks for the offer, but my parents are in that area and are talking to families with young kids, teachers,realtors whatnot about various neighborhoods.
