Plus I wanted to make Vortex feel better.
thank you, ita, it's appreciated. I've decided that I will assuage my longing by eating the leftovers of my pork ragu from last week (in the freezer). I am however, not motivated to make pasta on a weeknight, so will have to be whatever I've got in a box.
I just ran across it.
Dana posted it in Fic, and I had to crosspost it to Procedural just because of all the shows it was talking about, plus the explicit NCIS:LA manpain shoutout.
It's pretty funny.

Ha. I have "fresh" tortellini frozen and ready to boil up to prepare for lunch tomorrow and the next day. I will totally do that on a weeknight, because I can improvise the sauce. You, NSM with the quick impro I'm thinking.
Somewhere there are Philistinians who are very offended with this turn of phrase, I'll have you know.
I'll apologize to the first 10 or so who text me.

But is it recent or really old?

The spate seems recent, including when I saw it on LJ. I'm not sure what the source is. Dana probably knows. She knows things.
McSweeney's Cruel Nicknames for Overweight Vampires.
Dick Cheney is just wrong.
It's from about a week ago. Ancient in fannish terms!
It was also linked in metafandom, or the discussion that spawned it was.
The Daily Mail is the unthinkiest linkiest paper. I could click around their right hand navigation photos forever, and I don't know a third of those people. But I'm coming up to speed.
Yeah, no shit.

It's from Fanlore.

Oh, good. I thought it was from, like, a year ago or something. I'm glad I'm not TOO behind the curve.
Me-OW! Cat survives outage-causing run-in
CARROLLTON, Ill. - A cat went from meow to ow when officials say it accidentally made contact with a substation's fuse, causing an outage to about 1,500 homes and businesses in southwestern Illinois.
The feline apparently survived the encounter early Monday in the Greene County city of Carrollton.
Workers responding to the outage found the cat still on the ground several feet from where it apparently touched the fuse. An Ameren spokeswoman says the animal eventually managed to get up and walk away.
Most of the affected Ameren customers had their power restored within hours.
