It is a Fuyu! But someone said it wasn't completely ripe.
They're usually pretty decent even if slightly underripe. You must have got a dud one! They're seriously awesome fruit, and when they're on sale, I buy a LOT of them.
Pretty cool except for the part where I was really terrified and now my knees are all dizzy.
