They were saying they would get too mushy. But pumpkin pie is mushy! That is not a good argument.
I'm thinking you can make pie out just almost any non-citrus fruit.
Mission Pie has a Shaker lemon pie. It's very lemon-y, with the peel and everything. I have not had it, but...hey, they also had a pear-ginger pie! Which my friend had! While I went for apple-rhubarb! I'm glad I LJ all these details.
Hey, key lime pie! That's citrus too. Although it's a different sort of pie than the pie you probably mean.
I just got my candy delivery (glad it came on my day off!), which included a surprise-to-me complimentary sample of lemon fruit candy which I'm currently tasting. Yum! Now to make sure I keep some of the candy (raspberry, marionberry, and apple-cranberry) for Thanksgiving, which is why I bought it.
Since I'm not working on my current job, I should be applying for a new one, but I don't wanna! Maybe I'll shower and run errands....

How is it any different from apple?

Citrus fruit pies tend to be creamier. P-C mentioned lemon. Key lime pie is also delish.
And, while it isn't pie, pineapple upside-down cake is a little bit of heaven.
Key lime pie is also delish.
Yeah, it is one of my favorite pies. Along with strawberry-rhubarb.
Maybe you can make pie out of any fruit! (Or if we expand the definition of pie to include savory pies, any food!)
Pie - the universal dish?
I want someone to make me a key lime pie. And/or a strawberry-rhubarb pie. NOM!!!
Ooh. We get fresh fruit every Tuesday, and this week they were touting the persimmon, so I had a persimmon with my pear. It's an odd sort of thing. They don't really taste bad, but they don't have a lot of taste to them. And they have a weird aftertaste.
Depends on the type. What was the shape? It sounds like an underripe Hachiya one. I love them, but the nast of the underripe sent me to the arms of the Fuyu.
It is a Fuyu! But someone said it wasn't completely ripe.
