I went to a Holiday Fair church sale and found an old set of nesting trays for $2 that will be useful, plus had lunch with VW Bug, so it was a very pleasant interlude on a drim and drizzly-to-pouring day.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I am dressed and have done some cooking. I'm going to take some crap down to the storage unit and try to hang a painting. That may be all I can accomplish today. I've been up since 6 but have also fit in not one but two naps so far today.
On cooking: I'm thinking of making an acorn squash cake. That seems like it would be good, right? I mean, pumpkin cake rocks. But I've found that I really don't care for the texture of the squash on its own so I need to do something with it.
I'd do bread but I realize I don't own a loaf pan.

That's because you're out of chocolate, right? I can see no other reason.
Which reminds me, I'm out of chocolate. And it's grocery shopping day. And I really don't want to leave the house.
Suzi, have fun at Wicked! I just realized this morning that it was playing here so I'm super envious in a good way. But I think we are going to go see it in Tampa in February.
I'll eat your acorn squash cake.
Hmmm, I'm thinking we need a holiday movie/special death match.
I'm not exactly sure why I think this, but I need to know whether Emmett Otter's Jug Band will beat The Ref, or the George C. Scott version of Christmas Carol beats out the Alistair Sim. In fact, you could do a whole branch of the death match just on competing versions of Christmas carol, including Scrooged and the Muppet version.
Would it come down to Charlie Brown Christmas vs. It's a Wonderful Life, or a Christmas Story vs. The Grinch?
Anyway, I need recs for the pool. What are your must watch holiday movies?
Nothing beats The Ref.
Trading Places
The Thin Man
A Christmas Story
Year Without a Santa Claus
The Grinch
I apparently don't have a holiday movie thing -- no traditions, no real love really comes to mind. Except maybe the Grinch and Charlie Brown.
