Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!

Because books.

Does anyone have an opinion on "predominantly" vs. "predominately"? It's confusing me.

The second is just a variant. But I like, and use, the first.

The former is a word. The latter isn't.

Not according to Merriam-Webster.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Does anyone have an opinion on "predominantly" vs. "predominately"?

Yes.

We should just pick one and use that.

"Predominately" is my fave.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've never heard of predominately!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The second is just a variant. But I like, and use, the first.

Yeah, me too. Everything I can find says that, more or less, "predominately" is correct, but I really want to correct it to "predominantly."

The former is a word. The latter isn't.

I do check the dictionary first before I ask stupid questions.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Van Halen 2.0's Right Now?

Thank you! I can never retain the band or the song name. I should just buy it and be done with it. Of course, I've probably had this train of thought before. I should check the iPod.

"Predominately" sounds horrible. I guess there's no reason beyond the personal to change it to predominantly, but I'd sure try and sneak the changes by.

"Predominately" is my fave.

Please stop that. You're disturbing me.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I found the stamps!

I am hearing this as a triumphant song, like "they got the mustard out".

I reduced my Comcast bill by $40 this morning. DH is going to cancel our gym membership at the gym neither of us has been to in months, so that'll be another $90. Budget is very close to balancing.

i've never heard or seen "predominately" before. Huh.

1. Munroe’s Law: A person in a geeky argument who can quote xkcd to support his position automatically wins the argument. This law supersedes Godwin, so that even if the quote is about Hitler, the quoter still wins.

Now that I think of it, I say "predominantly" but I write "predominately."

Predominately, anyway.

Consistency is a hobgoblin.
