Note to self: excellent party food if I make 2 or 3 batches (i. e., 24-36 quiches, not just 12)
lemme tell ya, the mini quiches go like HOTCAKES. I can never make enough for parties. I usually make several batches over a few days and freeze them, then pop them in the oven for a quick warm up and crisping of the crust at the party.
I feel like at least RR cooks with actual food. Sandra Lee's ingredients always read like something out of a terrible sci-fi novel.
yes, her semi homemade stuff is DISGUSTING. she has a new show about eating cheaper. it was on while I was making breakfast this weekend, and I was too lazy to find the remote to change the channel. It wasn't terrible, although I still don't trust a skinny cook.
Interesting graph from Andrew Sullivan's blog: Marriage And The Generations
Here's a graph that puts the generational shift on marriage equality in stark relief:
A clear majority of the under-30s favor marriage equality in all but 12 states. This doesn't make defeats any easier, and it doesn't make those constitutional amendments any easier to reverse. But it does add some perspective and may help us keep our cool. We're winning where it counts. And the future will arrive some day.

but they don't vote, which is why we keep losing.
Yikes, Frank. Glad you still have a job, sorry you have to work in a place where that just happened.
It's definitely an industry-wide issue because of the changes that are coming down the pike for the student loan industry, and also because the economy hit everybody who works with lenders of any kind. Luckily, we are non-for-profit so the company has been trying to keep the best people as opposed to the cheapest, I've been here since 1994, and also worked on the business side before moving into QA.
Giada I can deal with in small doses. She seems so *nice* even if she has a zillion too many teeth.
The teeth alone wouldn't be so bad, but the way she smiles just emphasizes her teeth to a scary degree. I still find her easier to take than RR.
Foodie NYC used to have a monthly feature called "I loathe Sandra Lee" where he would post one of her recipes and ask his readers to come up with a version using real food.
The Toronto Star sent out a memo announcing that it was outsourcing some of its unionized editing jobs, and then the memo was marked up by a disgruntled editor: [link]
I stayed home sick today. It is a halfday for mac. I thought dismissal was noon, and was going to the grocery, but it seems it is now.
and her cutesy names drive me nuts.
Even the fucking DOG FOOD. Nutrish? I mean, SERIOUSLY?
I still like Nigella. Even though she eyefucks the food a little much and is big with the Nora Roberts metaphors, she looks and more or less sounds like a real person.
Paula Deen is just too exuberant and also scares me.
The Neelys are fun.
I still don't trust a skinny cook.
My brother doesn't qualify as "skinny" in my book, though he's still too lean, in my opinion, for someone who cooks with butter and eats bacon with every meal. Unfair!

Sometimes I think that her recipes are MORE work (and definitely more mess and ingredients) than just making it from scratch. Her show was for people who were afraid of cooking.
