What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Dad's idea was a GPS system

A Global Positioning System system, eh?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Does anyone actually use a digital photo frame? I was given one a couple of years ago and it's still in the box.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My ex-boyfriend Mike put an EvilTron in his friend's bathroom during a Halloween party. Drove him and his wife nuts. The poor guy could not find it. Of course he knew Mike did it, because who else? He had to call Mike, who told him the thing was behind the baseboard, behind the toilet. Guy said, "How did you even do that?" Mike replied, "I brought tools."

And that, in a nutshell, is why I almost married Mike.

!!!

...you know, I rail against "PIN number," "ATM machine," "HIV virus," et al., but "GPS system" never pinged me! D'oh.

P-C, you saved me from becoming that which I hate!

My dad loves his (though I had to load all the pictures), and The Boy's parents use one. Maybe it's a generational thing.

Teppy, have you looked at this one [link] Since you have Fridays off, you'd probably prefer a 7-day thermostat. Honeywell has good ratings and a battery backup. You might see if he wants to give you installation too. It's low voltage wiring, so it's not dangerous, but sometimes it can be a pain.

I totally wanted a programmable thermo back when I had forced air (my parents have one for their a/c and heat and it rocks) but now, with radiators, totally different game (from what I'm getting so far, all about maintaining a constant temp, no turning down at night unless I want to freeze in the morning.) Now I want programmable porch and inside lights. I've got a table lamp on a timer, but it'd be nice, now that I'm coming home in the dark, for the porch light to come on. And maybe a few other lights.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Teppy, here is one model to avoid: [link]

My uncle bought one at Lowe's and, while the installation was easy, programming the dratted thing has defeated us all.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am obsessed with keeping my heat off, since I'm paying for it now, but I haven't actually figured out the timers on the thermostat thingies -- I just run around turning the temperature down if the heat starts to come on but I'm not cold.

On the acronym thing, my first job in New York was working in an area I hadn't done before, and my whole first meeting I just spent writing down all of the acronyms I didn't know and then trying to figure out WTF anyone was talking about. Good times.
