Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Viggo and Sean could have stood to have brushed their hair.

Probably one of LJ's numerous Russian users.
special k:
Should I see the digital projection of Sherlock Holmes, or the normal one? Need to buy tickets ahead of time.
It turns out I can't tell the difference. I sat through a whole digital show without realizing it.
I just read an interview with Quentin Tarantino where he said he's quitting at age 60, I think, or when the industry goes all digital, whichever comes first.
I think the time of the non-digital is better, so I'll probably go that way if ticketing allows.
You know what really says "Merry Christmas, sweetie!" A life-size bust of a Predator head.
I'm not kidding. Thanks to a friend with connections, Pete just uncrated his Christmas Predator bust. No, I have no idea where he's going to put it.
are there pictures of your household somewhere? I can't be the only one here who is curious.
Holiday Predator head, with Devilbunny who covets it: [link]
that is fucking awesome.
This early in the run, the film and digital prints will look almost identical. In a few weeks (once the film's been run through the projector a few hundred times) the digital will look better.
ION, Avatar is pretty freaking awesome. Dances with giant Ewoks comparisons aside...this is a movie where a pterodactyl blows up a helicopter. In IMAX 3D. I mean, DUDE. DUDE.
My one major quibble with the worldbuilding is that the Na'vi should have had four arms. Every other vertebrate on the planet has 2 pairs of front limbs - there are six-legged rhino, wolf, and horse analogues, and all the pterodactyls have four wings and two legs. And yet the Na'vi have only one pair of arms. What gives, Cameron? (This is not a spoiler for anything but the production design, but what the heck, spoilerfont is easy.)
