Apparently After Earth is on target to make $25 Mill this weekend. This apparently is a HUGE disappointment and in "Battlefield Earth" territory.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Maybe this will be the one that finally stops studios from greenlighting Shyamalan movies....
The movie I wanted to see this weekend, "The East" is in FOUR theaters. Bah. I guess I'll have to wait for the expansion.
I have a feeling this one got greenlit more because it's a Will Smith movie.
Yeah, but apparently Smith was producing it from the start. Was M. Knight the only director desperate enough to say yes?
After hearing the story idea? Yes.
Saw FF looked it. However preteen boys with cell phone kept moving it around and in my eye . Told him to shut it off he didn for awhile. Then back on. Wish I had found a manager I think they snuck in.

However, it's not clear at this stage how the new Wild Bunch would connect to its celebrated predecessor, other than via the title.

Will Smith must be stopped, he's gone past charming and goofey into Tom Cruise-taking himself too seriously territory.
I saw ST into Lens Flare today. I enjoyed it but I don't take the Star Trek universe that seriously. Never did because even as a kid, I could see that Shatner was a joke on wheels. The movies were even worse, though I thought Wrath of Khan was the best of the bunch.
I was spoiled for the character Bandersnatch Crumpetcakes played so I knew it was coming. And I felt like a lot of the movie was fan-boy self-service, though I enjoyed the call backs to the show.
