Mmm. Just finished cooking my dinner -- lentil cauliflower curry. I hate chopping up cauliflower, but it's really worth it.

I feel all productive. I not only cooked dinner, but within twenty minutes of finishing eating, I had all the cooking utensils and the pot in the dishwasher, the leftovers in Pyrex, and the dishwasher running.

Now I suppose I should make my lunch for tomorrow. Some leftovers, one more vegetable (asparagus? carrots?) and something else. Maybe I'll make cupcakes.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Hil, you are indeed industrious.

As for me, I have that needing-a-shower feeling after listening to my mother go on about Jesus must be coming back soon, her Bible study leader really believes it. If she hadn't used that bit of theology to justify her steadfast refusal to live within her means while married to my stepfather - i.e. "I don't have to worry about running up credit card bills because Jesus will probably come back before it gets too hard to make the minimum payments, and if not, well, God will provide miracles, and see us through bankruptsy" - it would probably make me less nauseated.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

At the restaurant where Mom and I had lunch, there was a poor mother with a sick toddler in her arms and a somewhat cranky younger toddler at her feet. Neither her husband or the grandparents were helping with the kids. I don't think she got more than a bite or two of her Mother's Day dinner.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Hmmph. Somebody should have stolen her away from her family and fed her wine.

We went for a bike ride with some friends. It has been way too long since I have been on a bike. I keep forgetting -- I live in one of those weird little bedroom/ suburban/ sprally cities in CA , right next to a major nesting ground for water fowl. herons and pelicans today. And incredible flowers and hills to see. I need to do this more. It is good for the soul.

I've got cupcakes in the oven. And kind of exploded corn starch all over myself and the kitchen.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

You live about where my dad used to ride his bike through to go fishing up at the quarries, beth. Very scenic!

I just ordered a bike computer that will tell me how "far" I've ridden when I have the bike on the trainer in the shed. Once I am confident that I can ride a sufficient distance to get somewhere and back I will have no more excuses for not biking around. Yay!

Also toe clips, which I expect will help.

Toe clips do help. But I ride with them fairly loose. I am a bit slow to get out of them when I need to get my feet down.

Did You know that the east bay regional park has taken over those lakes? You can still fish in them. And one is set aside for swimming.

Beth, I did look over at her and say, "No rest even on Mother's Day?" But her family remained cluess. She did have wine.

That's pretty sad, sj.

That's cool that those are parks.

I had toe clips before, but I lost them in one of my moves. Recently, I've really been missing them. I got a different style this time - no straps, supposed to be easier to get in and out of.
