The most popular boy’s name, Jacob, remained the same for the 10th year in a row.

Its been my experience that ear plugs don't block out as much as you think, it just takes down the apparent volume. Also, not very comfortable, especially if you sip/nibble while working. YRMV. Me? I'd tell him to turn it down.
