Greg's job stuff is a little scary. The pay cut came with an insurance benefits cut. We don't know what, exactly, that will mean to the paycheck until payday, which is Friday. Then in June they'll be looking at the budget and the staff again, and possibly laying people off, and they warned everyone that it wasn't going to be last hired first fired, but would depend on how critical people were. Greg does a lot of reader advisory stuff, and he's taught a bunch of the librarians how to blog, but I don't know how important they think that is. Fiction doesn't move as well as non-fiction, and horror isn't the first thing most people go to the library for. We'll be okay, though, one way or another.
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
And to P_C - a little late now but my favoratist smoothie recipe when i don't feel like chewing (or when it is super hot out) is Spirutein vanilla flavor with orange juice and frozen berries, blended up. Delicious and full of nummy nutrients from the Spirutien powder. Just drink it out of an opaque cup if you don't add the berries, as it has a tendency to turn green if you let it sit too long and that wierds me out.
Heh. Thanks. I just bought some Slim-Fast shakes, as I don't want to figure out how to make shakes and smoothies for the first time while on Vicodin.

If House can be fully functioning on Vicodin, you can! (ignore the recent hallucinations stuff. That won't happen to you!)
Why yes, I am not wanting to head into work again. But alas, here I go.
Continued ~ma to the list. Ugg, sorry it all rained on everyone yesterday.
Man, I am drinking a Belgian "quad" style beer put out by Harpoon- stronger than the Belgian tripel. Wow, this beer is NOT subtle. Good thing I love the burn! Well, I need the burn. I figure this is like drinking whiskey but will permit me to get on with my day tomorrow.
I love that beer, but, yes, very in-your-face about its strength. And decidedly NOT a session beer.

I think that shakes designed to aid people in weight loss might not provide a healthy young male adult with enough nutrition/calories.

Seriously? 1. Put 1 cup frozen fruit and 1 cup milk in blender. 2. Blend the shit out of it. 3. Drink the smoothie.

You make it sound so simple! Anyway, I don't have a working blender. I could go get one, but that would involve...going to get one. One day, I'll learn how to make a smoothie thing! Right now, everything is stressing me out too much.
If I'd skim more, I'd probably have more time to post, but something catches my eye, I go back three screens to see what I missed, catch up, and I'm out of time, but I send the ~ma like crazy.
Deena my sistah! Good to see you, always.
On the one hand, I'm going to point at what Steph said - it really is that easy. Just as easy as mixing a slimfast shake, or a glass of Nesquick.
But otoh, I am often irrational about things that are insanely easy if they are things I've not done/they impact on one of my 'this-is-something-I'm-obviously-crap-at' zones of irrational insecurity. So I guess if matters culinary are a bit of a non-comfort zone, and you're trying to go for something you feel secure with, I can grok that.
(But, honestly - frozen fruit plus milk = yum.)
I am appalled that no one has mentioned the BEST reason for owning a blender. Vanilla ice cream + milk + chocolate syrup = delicious milkshake anytime you want one.
Going to buy a blender is a pain and you might not feel like it. However, PC, learning to use one is so simple that anyone can do it. You're a grown-up person, so I'd say it's really not an issue that even needs discussing. It's like using a toaster--not a task which requires more than, say, 15 seconds of "learning."

I like this even better when you add Kahlua.
