Yeah, not saying it is cost free. A whole lot more than an inconvenience. But if swine flu is actually verified at an institution ....
If the CDC is saying suggesting a shut down in that situation, they are not just doing it for shits and giggles. I mean Mexico is a whole lot poorer than we are, and they have essentially shut down large parts of their country to minimize the risk from a virus that evolved in factory farms run by our major corporations with their borders. So pretty much I'd say that if the CDC says we need to do it. We need to do it. And you are right that we ought to have some compensation this. Our parental leave and health care system sucks. And if a pandemic develops, the latter fact will cost us a lot of lives. But in the meantime, , to prevent this, we should do what we have to.

this. I could probably get coverage for two days but to be out for a week we'd have to borrow managers from another theatre.
Laga, was it you saying you are partial to Abyssinian cats but would likely go with a shelter baby next time you were looking for a cat? How do you feel about breed-specific breed rescue organizations? [link]
Fort Worth school district is closed for 2 weeks, and the city cancelled the ArtFest, weekend festival of crafts, concerts, etc.
ooh I had considered a breed rescue if I ever decided to get an Irish Wolfhound but it never crossed my mind that cats would have breed rescues too. Thanks for the tip, WindSparrow!
omnis that stinks! How many cases of the swine flu have they had?
Not sure. A few. Clearly an over reaction.
I just had leftover cheese-stuffed baked potato skins for breakfast. Ni-ice.
Hil, best of luck with the rheumatologist. Pain management is such a tricky balancing act. I hope they can give you something that helps.
Am up to 3000 words of my 6000-word paper! Some of the words are even OK! Today: at least 1500 more! Here I go...
Another Saturday, another academic shit to write. Meh. Need to get coffee in order to do that.
And thanks for the new tagline, Laga.
I've mixed feelings on the overreactions. The speed with which the H1N1 bloomed and the ratio of deaths to infections in Mexico was alarming.
Compare it to a forest fire. If there is a potential for a massive forest going up and you have an opportunity to put out a small fire to prevent it, it might be best to aggressively stamp hard on any flying embers ASAP.
The pandemic 1918 was bad, but we have global air travel now. Even if this is a bust, we better get used to it. A pandemic is probably inevitable until everyone has everyone's germs. (Although that is statistically improbable).
