This is not funny. This... this is a morality tale about the evils of sake.

Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Our wings are not tired.

I really, really miss Dave Morey. I'm glad for him, but sad for me.

I was interviewed on the KFOG Morning Show for the Bubblegum book. It was easily the most fun interview I've ever done, and they were all incredibly nice and made me sound good.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

All fired in one fell swoop? That's scary.

Yeah. Rumor is that they were fired for playing a leaked Green Day song, but that was likely just an excuse, since they never seemed to agree with upper management's decisions and complained about some of their stupid policies a lot.

They were fired on April Fool's Day, too, which is just bad timing. And Woody and his wife have a baby on the way. I'm really thrown by this! I mean, it was weird enough when they kept changing the name of their show, but now there is no more show and ack. It's almost like a TV show cancellation.

he'd been doing a cheerfully silly themed daily top-10 playlist for years, and it got picked up for syndication by enough stations that in December he was able to buy a huge house in Michigan near his family and, basically, concentrate on making 10-song mix tapes for a very comfortable living.

Aw, that's nice.

Hec, that is so cool! Do you have a recording of it by chance? I'd love to hear it.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I need a good excuse not to go to one of those sell this product out of your home gatherings. It's for jewelery. I don't think, "I'm anti-social and don't wanna." is going to work.

I do! I have it on tape. There's a slight gap (when I was talking about the Hanson Brothers, I think) but otherwise it's the full 20-30 minutes I was on. I did it in studio, so I was right there in the guest chair, with the cans on looking at them as we talked. And we'd just keep chatting when we were off the air during commercial, and they'd bring that stuff up when we came back. But I got them to crack up with my sexual innuendo about Jughead.

They were so good at setting me up and keeping me on point. The only other interview that exhibited comparable on-air talent was when Neil Conan interviewed Kim and I for Talk of the Nation. We we all in remote studios and yet he was incredibly skilled at cuing us to speak and keeping it all flowing in a natural way.

brillig

I've lost my taste for DJs and listen to the automated station that names each song it plays. It doesn't play my favorite music, but that station has an annoying DJ. Fortunately, this is why God invented the buttons on the car radio. I need buttons on my clock radio so I can fast-swap when obnoxious talkers/songs come on.

ETA:

(To Hec) It does take a lot of skill to be able to do that.

I'd love to hear that recording some time!

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

sj, I need you to stay here, I have really bad post-nasal drip, I'm miserable, and I need you to comfort me.

There, now you can say you have to stay with a sick friend.

I'm very much hoping you won't still be sick in a week and a half when the party is.
