Ours too, by about 25%. But of course, rent has to cover the landlord's mortgage plus property taxes plus utilities (usually water and heat are included in NYC) and I assume most landlords also want to make a profit...

My mortgage plus condo fees pretty much equals what my place would rent for if it were still an apartment. The only way I save is that I get a bigger tax refund, now.
