Now that there is legislation being considered to ban human-animal hybrids, I figure MM has been busy putting together his army of pig-men before anything can pass.

GC, if you are interested, we just happen to have a crib and changing table available. Both are in excellent condition. Italian design, natural wood finish. I'd be happy to know they're in a good home.

Except for Daniel, who snores so loudly he wakes himself up.

Oh lord. My DexH snored so loudly, he actually rattled the windows. But never woke up. He's the only person I've ever seen fall asleep while crossing a room. I knew he was asleep as he swayed slightly and snored loudly.

I felt so bad for him...and me. Even in a separate room, across a hallway, he could wake me up.

In later years he had a uvulectomy...as did the last boyfriend. I've always been curious to know if that really works. Had no experience of either of them post-snip, so could not ask.

For some reason, no-one ever takes me up on this...

Burrell, thanks so much for the offer. My mom is all gung-ho on buying the baby's crib, though, so I think we'll let her. We don't need very much since we don't have tons of room and my cousin had twin boys last October, so we're getting car seats and swings and other stuff from her. Crib and matching dresser are the only big ticket items and Granny (my mom) is buying the crib and Grandma (DW's mom) is buying the dresser.

Heh. My mom's relationship with my paternal grandmother never recovered after she bought a rummage sale crib for me.

(My mom wasn't "like that" - my grandmother bought a crappy falling apart old one and didn't even bother to clean it up. I don't know if the insult was consciously intended but... there's a reason I refer to my "good grandma" and "bad grandma". )

I was just thinking about how I monitor safety on oncology trials and thus I am often callous and strange about patient's deaths since they're just data points to me (the number of morbid and insensitive jokes I make is probably inappropriate).

But I was thinking last night that if my little brother died, I would be a sobbing, convulsive mess and you would have to keep me away from sharp objects.

A friend posted yesterday that her boss's daughter had been killed in a car crash. She was 23 and two months pregnant.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother to do anything if I could die at any time. Nothing we do matters, so all that matters is what we do, right? So is personal fulfillment and enjoyment a waste of time? Why spend ten hours watching anime when you could be, I don't know, saving puppies?

I used the crib my mom used for the 4 of us. She got it used too. It was in rough shape, but I used it butted up to our bed with the side down so it worked well. It was much smaller than the ones they sell now. If the boys make me a grandmother I will likely buy them a new one, or find an awesome used one.

Oh yeah, nothing wrong with that at all. The dirty, grimy crib was I think simply the first and most hurtful demonstration of all around asshattery w/r/t my mom. See above re Bad Grandma.
