I'm so happy to be able to (finally) get PG advice from my b.org mamas! I was using ginger candies from Trader Joe's until they started making me feel sick. Pregnancy is strange in what it does to your eating habits. Like I normally love vegetables, but they make me totally gag now. Hell, I even gag on water sometimes. I also have to have beef now, after over a year of not eating it. Sometimes it's the only thing that makes me feel decent. I hope the nugget is getting enough good nutrients.
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Yeah, you gotta switch things up a lot because your body gets really finicky really fast, especially over something it's just been craving. Hec and I learned the hard way that just because my body was crying out for Item X today was no reason to go out and buy five boxes of Item X, because two days from now just looking at one of those boxes was probably going to make me urk.
I don't think I ever got sick of Grape-Nuts or cashews, but that may have been it.

That's, like, the nugget's entire job description right now! As long as you're getting something into your body and keeping it down, the nugget will do fine.
the nugget's entire job description right now!
And that's just it. Nugget is sucking out every nutrient he/she wants from you, leaving you deficient. Don't worry about nugget! You're really eating for you right now.
The best advice I got on eating while pregnant was from flea who said, I think, don't let your stomach get too empty/hungry and that worked for me. I basically lived on dried fruit and nuts from Costco, string cheese, and yogurt. I was okay as long as I had something in my stomach.
I ate so much McDonalds during my first trimester - I couldn't stand the smell of food, so going to a deli for a bagel was never an option in the morning.

Yep yep yep - so much this. I kept apples and saltines in my bedside table so I could have something before I tried standing up in the morning.
Total random interruption: Huh. In the past 48 hours I've been contacted by both my parents (during different conversations with different friends in different states) to explain the lie/lay distinction. Are there lie/lay confusion germs floating around or something?

I'm afraid those germs have infected 99% of the population.

Hmmm... now where's my copy of Lays and the Laying Layers Who Tell Them....
