Well, The Girl won one argument over my presence, and we're just back from breakfast with the future in-laws. It may take me all day to recover, but I'm very proud of her for taking a stand over it. Also of me, for going. Next she plans to ask about some of us going to the theatre together Wednesday evening.
Small steps are good. May the rest of your day be peaceful to help you recover.
It is good to read that you survived the breakfast, Seska. You may not win them over in a visit or two, but I hope that their love for their daughter opens their hearts.
What she said.
He's not going to tempt me to catch the gay, but, I will say, yup, much cuter (most of which is his accent, I think).
Cute is definitely not how I would describe the Ninth Doctor. But yeah, the Tenth can be. I think Tennant's fanboy sensibility was an enormous asset to his portrayal of the Doctor - as it was wonderful to be able to see facets of previous Doctors in his.

Heh. Very much so. Did you see the 'Children in Need' mini-episode special that fits between season two (I think) and the Christmas special of that year?
Oh yes. Davison is my Doctor, too. But then, I've had a great big crush on him ever since All Creatures Great and Small.
Raq, yay for the good news on the job front!

That is exactly the reason I find him palatable. Truth be told, he's pretty bland as a Doctor. (My favourite was for a long time the 3rd Doctor, who I found to embody an interesting combination of traits. And Delgado's Master was an excellent villain, well-matched to Pertwee's Doctor.) But now I think the later 7th Doctor may have edged him out. He's so intriguingly manipulative.
Sniper 2:
Get back, or he'll use the gun.
The Doctor:
Yes, I imagine he will. You like guns, don't you?
Sniper 1:
This is a specialised weapon. It's designed for roof duty. Designed for long range. I've never used one up close before.
Sniper 2:
Let him go.
Sniper 1:
No.
The Doctor:
No. In fact... let him come a little closer.
Sniper 1:
Stay where you are.
The Doctor:
Why? Scared? Why should you be scared? You're the one with the gun.
Sniper 1:
That's right.
The Doctor:
And you like guns, don't you?
Sniper 2:
He'll kill you.
The Doctor:
Of course he will. That's what guns are for. Pull a trigger. End a life. Simple, isn't it?
Sniper 1:
Yes.
The Doctor:
Makes sense, doesn't it?
Sniper 1:
Yes.
The Doctor:
A life, killing life.
Sniper 2:
Who are you?
The Doctor:
[to Sniper 2#] Shut up.
[back to Sniper 1#]
The Doctor:
Why don't you do it then? Look me in the eye. Pull the trigger. End my life.
Sniper 1:
No.
The Doctor:
Why not?
Sniper 1:
I can't.
The Doctor:
Why not?
Sniper 1:
I don't know.
The Doctor:
[takes the gun] You don't, do you?
[to Sniper 2#]
The Doctor:
Throw away your gun.
Mmmm, David Tennant...
Yes. This.
Yay, Seska for surviving breakfast with the out-laws.
Last night was movie watching (Miss Potter & Across the Universe), this morning is lazing about, Hardee's biscuits, and waiting for the baseball game to start in a couple of hours.
Gronk. It is too early to be on the airport shuttle. Back to Orlando I go!
Am up to season three. It started to feel a bit rushed around here, having felt very slow up til now. Want to get to Shadow War now.
I love season 3, which would have been near perfect without the appalling existence of Zathras.
this post: Daniel C. Jensen [snip] was beautiful!
Thanks O_A.
And Doctor Who talk. Good stuff.
Tennant is scheduled to be The Doctor in an episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures in Series 3, too. And not just a cameo.

You not like Zathras? Pity. Zathras have good line in series.
“Zathras is used to being beast of burden to other peoples' needs. Very sad life. Probably have very sad death, but at least there is symmetry.”
I first watched Doctor Who in syndication on PBS so Tom Baker was my doctor. I see a lot of him in #10.
