[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Pepsi has come out with "Throwback" sodas - their regular lineup, but made with cane sugar instead of HFCS. They say it's a limited run. I think they're putting out a feeler to see how popular it is, in the face of all the bad press about HFCS. I hope they make it a permanent addition to their line, because it tastes much better, regardless of whether it's actually better for you.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Bread is one of those stealth foods that almost always has HFCS, in my experience.

Seriously. I am obsessive about keeping HFCS out of my diet (unless I'm mainlining Sour Patch Kids, which just needs to happen some days), and the amount of stuff that it's in is staggering.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Honey, raisin juice ( really) and molasses.

Oh yeah, I think the bread we have has raisin juice too.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

There are some products starting to take it out - Thomas' English Muffins I notice has a big thing on the label "no longer contains HFCS."

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

In turning the tables news ... the NCIL (National Council for Independent Living) is having their annual conference downtown. As a result, we're having some instances of wheelchair gridlock. In addition, the wheelchair people are taking over some places, outnumbering those on foot. It's kind of an interesting perspective, having them be in the majority, even for a brief while.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

mfnlaw and I had dinner last week and we noticed a large number of wheelchair/mobility impaired patrons in the restaurant and bar.

I kind of get a kick out of seeing a bunch of people in wheelchairs moving fast, very sure of where they're going, taking over the sidewalk ... I just get out of their way and watch my toes.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

regardless of whether it's actually better for you.

I suspect that ingesting the same volume of cane sugar as HFCS has similar health effects. But the ish is that they stick HFCS into everything, and it's easy to lose track of how much sweetener you are really eating.
