But it really sounds like an upper or middle (to the extent that there was a middle) class approach. Your average peasant (i.e. the bulk of the world) didn't have much in the way of propterty, etc. to worry about. I suspect that in large swaths of the world young people have always followed their hearts/nads, paired up, and raised families.
That's actually true, marriage was a class thing. Poor folk would hook up, and if a baby resulted they'd move in together and everyone would way, "Sven and Inga, they're a nice couple, aren't they?" When the local priest came by, he'd baptise the baby, maybe bless the couple, but that was all the official recognition needed.

Parent-type people, I think I have a dilemma. Well, tell me if I do.
This morning, I went to my niece's school to see her perform in her play. (SO CUTE!) My niece introduces me to her teacher, who turns out to be my friend's BATSHIT CRAZY ex-girlfriend (and I say this legitimately, as in when they broke up, she called my friend and threatened to commit suicide (and I seem to recall made a bullshit attempt), my friend ended up seeing a counselor about it, etc.) Now, it's been at least 5 or 6 years since the incident, she seems to have her shit together. My niece is happy at the school, and bro and SIL like it.
Question is - do I tell them what I know? I'm thinking that I should keep my mouth shut, but as a parent, would you want to know what I know?

How much longer is she her teacher? If she's just teaching 9-5 and not heavily involved in the girl's life, I think I'd be okay with not knowing. I think teachers are often in a hard position in that they are held to such a high standard. Which is good, because they have great influence, but I think I'd just leave it.

Vortex, I think if she's only her teacher for a couple more weeks, then let sleeping dogs lie. So far as her behavior has been appropriate for the professional setting, then I think it's okay.
Besides, I think a lot of us have That Person in our lives who once made us act really crazy/stupid and completely unlike our normal selves.
