Fingers crossed, ChiKat.
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I'm hoping it's some sort of harmless connection and not some new random thing. I don't want to go anywhere because wearing a bra is so painful.
ChiKat, will be sending positive vibes.
Uh-oh, Steph.
Chatty!co-worker is inappropriate and rude, and manages to cover it with a veneer of politeness, so that apparently only I am annoyed by him. I sometimes think it's Asperger's, since he takes some statements so literally that it leaves me agog. (As in, saying "Have a good evening," which is a linguistically lazy way of saying "I hope that you have a good evening." However, he takes it literally, as a command, and says that it's presumptuous to order people to have a good evening.)
Asperger's, or deliberately asshole-ish?
I found out this morning that one of my co-workers is pregnant. Apparently everyone else knew yesterday, but I get to work later than most people (yes, 8:15 is "late" in my office). So I asked Chatty and Other Co-worker, "Did you know [co-worker] was pregnant?!?" They said yes, and I said "Gee, thanks for telling me!"
Chatty said, "Maybe she didn't want you to know."
I asked, "Did she pull you aside and tell you in confidence, one on one, or did she mention it to a group?"
"A group," he says.
"So it wasn't a secret, then," I say.
"Well, you weren't there, and she didn't say to tell you, so I assumed she didn't want you to know."
Again, is it a taking-things-literally Asperger's thing? Or just being an asshole?
He always comments on people's food choices, which drives me batshit. Boss was eating a bagel this morning, and it was one of those big-as-your-head bagels, like many places have these days. Chatty says to her, "I guess you won't be eating any more starches for the rest of the day."
She says, eloquently, "Huh?"
"Well, that bagel is at least 6 servings worth of starch, you know."
She replies, "And?"
"Well, if you want to eat more servings of bread than you should, it's your life."
Also popular is his, "Do you KNOW how many calories are in that?!?" Or, "Wow, if you eat that whole thing, it's more than half a day's worth of calories!" (Usually said about a Chipotle burrito.)
Poorly socialized, or just an asshole?
How are you feeling today, BTW?
Still peeing 800 times a day and having pain. Doctor prescribed an antibiotic yesterday, and took a urine sample, and said that if the test comes back with a bacterium that is resistant to the antibiotic she gave me, she'll switch me to a better drug.
But for now, still uncomfortable. I await relief any second now...
And still I wait.
Does Asperger's correlate with chatty? I don't claim to know a whole lot about it, but it seems like it wouldn't.

Good luck, and good vibes, ChiKat.
Stephanie, I hope that your rash clears up soon, and you are feeling much better.
I've had okay results with Match, although whether you agree with that may depend on your opinion of KBD. Heck, my opinion of him is in flux.
My preferred method of online dating is to find a chat room dedicated to a show I love, make a bunch of online friends, then have a spark with one of the guys. So far I've got a win ratio of 1:2. Or maybe, since I was with the guy from the Star Trek chat room for over a year, and it was the longest relationship I'd had up to that point, it could be two for two.
And because we are twelve, a little anecdote from work yesterday: Male coworker mentioned turducken, which bosslady had never heard of before. He explained like this, "You take a chicken and stuff it up the butt of a duck which you then stuff up the butt of a turkey." After several expressions of disbelief on her part, bosslady said, "Who goes up whose butt, now?" I just looked at her and we giggled for five minutes.

Hee!
Does Asperger's correlate with chatty?
Taking statements literally is a frequently cited characteristic of Asperger's.
Also? That WOULD be a cool-ass journal to work for.
I vote for asshole and poorly socialized.
Mostly because I'm grumpy this morning and not feeling well.
Also? That WOULD be a cool-ass journal to work for.
Obviously, what you need to do is take the job in New York, and bring a sample of Chatty!Coworker's DNA with you, and ask them if they can find a genetic marker for Asperger's.
