[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

TLC reality shows this week are uncomfortable. Yesterday, Jon and Kate were discussing their possible divorce. Today, the Duggars are crying because their grandfather died. I like these shows when they're just a look into a kinda-weird family, but this much intensity is just uncomfortable to watch.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Having met SLNRLBF, I thoroughly approve! Also, I like going to Vermont and welcome any and all opportunities to do so.

Holy shit. They're actually filming the funeral, and the kids looking at the body, and the little kids asking questions like "Why is Grandpa not breathing?" Why on earth did they agree to do this in front of the cameras?

Money?

Probably.

I forgot to go get my eyebrows waxed today. I'm going to see my parents tomorrow, and my mother always Comments if my eyebrows aren't done.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

What don't they agree to do in front of the cameras? I mean, aside from the one thing, I hope to Jesus.

And they probably agreed to allow them to film whatever happens to them for the duration of the contract. The only time they can't film is when it's beyond their control (i.e. when the cameras couldn't follow the girl into the abortion clinic because the clinic wouldn't let them in, but they followed her right up to the door)

On most of the earlier shows, it seemed like each episode had something planned, like going to the zoo or having a party or something. On both Jon and Kate and the Duggars this week, it was pretty serious life issues. Well, Jon and Kate was a weird mix, with a birthday party edited in between the shots of Jon and Kate talking to the camera about how they might be getting divorced.

Also, on Jon and Kate, there were a few times that Kate mentioned the date (because it was unseasonably cold, and she was trying to figure out why it was this cold) and it was just filmed this past weekend. The past few years, there have been holiday specials which were obviously filmed weeks if not months in advance, so the family had a "Thanksgiving dinner" for the cameras sometime in October, which was aired the week before Thanksgiving, and then, I presume, they had their own Thanksgiving dinner actually on Thanksgiving without the cameras there.
