What is it with "White Trash" themed parties?? And am I wrong for thinking they are racist/elitist? I avoided one this weekend. Something about the theme just creeps me out.
I'm iffy on whether racist is the right word for that, but definitely classist. Seal and Heidi Klum had a white trash theme for their wedding vow renewal party a few weeks ago.
Nifty! Poison garden: [link] (make sure to check out the slideshow).

I think the racism comes in the implication that "trash" with no modifier refers to non-whites, that if your insult is aimed at white people you have use the modifier "white" or nobody will know. "Trash" without that modifier is just elitist and classist , for example "trailer trash".
Is Baja Fresh completely incapable of getting my order right? Yesterday, I ordered a bare burrito, and it came with no rice, even though it's supposed to have rice. Today, ordered a bare burrito again. I noticed that my receipt just said "burrito" so I told the cashier that I'd ordered a bare burrito, not a regular one, and he said yes, yes, bare burrito. Got my order, and it was a regular burrito. I said this wasn't what I ordered, and the server said sorry and gave me a bare burrito. Just got back to my office, and once again, no rice.
They did give me a bunch of extra chips, though. But I want rice!

The thing that really irked me with white trash party was the timing. Memorial Day weekend. I can't help but think how many people they would call WT have fought and died defending this country. Ugg. Can't verbalize all the ugg it's putting in my head. I just need to get over it. But I hate the stomp on others to make me feel better mentality.
For Seal and Heidi Klum's white trash party, Seal wore a mullet wig and and American flag shirt, and Heidi Klum had her hair in cornrows. Which, huh?
Hil, I once had a friend order a bacon cheeseburger with nothing on it at a Wendy's drive thru. She got a bun with a patty. We had to have words with the staff there.
I mean, I know fast food workers are not always the brightest bulbs in the bunch, but the words "bacon" and "cheese" were used in the order. She did want the bacon and the cheese, and said so.
It's a rainy Memorial Day, so no cookouts for us. Instead, I did a lot of cooking for the week, and now we're going to see Trek (and then hopefully get thumb-wrestling luchadores from Taco Bell).
