I'm sorry, dad. You know I would never have tried to save River's life if I had known there was a dinner party at risk.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I need to remember that the ocean is Right There. It's all impressive and shit plus very calming with the waves and the white noise and the spray in your face.

Note to self: make it out to Long Beach at least once more before the summer is over.

I just have to say....

Who loved getting strawberry ice cream today? That smiling ice-cream eating baby would be GRACIE ! (if you didn't know, folks with traches rarely get to eat because they worry about aspirating and Grace has never had a meal by mouth )

sara, re: du Toit... she's AMAZING.

No kidding. I heard the original piece on The World on radio (I think it is BBC.) There was a comment somewhere that she should get an honorary gold. I was all, no, that would piss her off. She wanted to earn her way to the top of the Olympics on her terms, which is one leg or two, compete as if with 2. And I love her spirit for that.

I need to remember that the ocean is Right There.

Eeek. Ocean still freaks me out. Makes the horizon too high somehow. I love the sound, I love the idea. This desert girl freaks out over the reality, however. It's visceral.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

GO ICE-CREAMING EATING MISS G!!

It wasn't a lot. It was just a little. But when I went in to see her, she had blue smeared all over her face. They put dye in food they give to the kids to be able to make sure they are swallowing and it is not seeping into their lungs.

Ocean still freaks me out.

You did fine on the ride out to Catalina.

Also, everyone's first meal should be strawberry ice cream.

I really hope this is a step forward. And that the ice cream was received tastily.
