God no. I am also extremely irritated by the costumes regular gymnasts wear. They're athletes, not show ponies! You don't see the men coming out all bedazzled.
I did, however, give my full approval to Alexei Nemov's habit of working the crowd by stripping off parts of his uniform. Minimalism is good.
